EOTech VUDU 4-12x36 Puts Mil Holds in an ACOG-Size Body
The short version: EOTech's VUDU 4-12x36 is a compact variable scope designed to match a Trijicon TA11 ACOG's size and low-power view, then add 12x magnification and a milliradian reticle for precise holds.

Most LPVOs chase a big zoom ratio. EOTech went the other way with a 3x erector, which keeps the first-focal-plane reticle usable at both 4x and 12x and lets the full range sweep in roughly a quarter turn of the ring. In reviewer Keith Finch's spec comparison, the VUDU comes in shorter and lighter than the TA11 while giving up almost nothing in field of view.
The MR5 reticle swaps the ACOG's horseshoe-and-BDC approach for a 4-mil circle, a 0.2-mil center dot and a holdover tree marked in half-mil steps. Finch's argument is that mil holds work the same regardless of cartridge or barrel, while a BDC is only correct for the load it was designed around. The scope also fits Gen 2 "Mini" ACOG mounts, so ACOG owners may be able to reuse what they already have.
Finch's take is positive throughout: he credits EOTech with keeping the fast low-power handling of a combat optic while adding real precision-scope capability. He plans to box-test the turrets in a follow-up piece, and the article does not list a price.
