Quality product from EOTECH. I researched a lot of options for the best to way install a light on my Mossberg 500 Road Blocker 12 gauge shotgun: external lights, switches, add-ons, etc. It came down to the Surefire and EOTECH integrated lights. So I purchased both lights and installed/tested them. Though the SureFire light is WAY more powerful than the EOTECH, the EOTECH is a much better product. The EOTECH has better ergonomics....the grip is fantastic and more natural-feeling compared to the Surefire. The light switches are easier placed for finger manipulation than the SureFire. Though not as bright (in the highest setting) as compared to the SureFire, the EOTECH throws out a strong light the will easily light up a large room and even my backyard. The EOTECH also fits nicer on my Mossberg than the SureFire (which is smaller in length by a few inches). It just looks nicer! A quality product. You cannot go wrong if you want the best available shotgun light on the market!

High quality, shipped on time, but, did not fit my 500 Mossberg. There are at least two, maybe three different models of the 500 and the Amazon description doesnt explain or describe which ones it fits....returned

Expensive but sleek, and the ambidextrous switches work well. The flashlight is now rated over 200 lumens and that appears accurate. Be sure your original fore-end has metal innards as you will need them. Assembly is a bit of a chore, but there are good videos on the net.

Great product that literally only took 3 minutes to install, and that's because I proceeded very cautiously. Great replacement from the OEM fore stock on my Mossberg 590A1 Blackwater model 12 guage. Light is easy to use, has bright setting which is bright enough to disorient intruders. Low light switch illuminates everything you could want to see inside a room, going to room to room. Easy to use push switch.... Great product. After seeing it, my uncle purchased one for his shotgun and is also very pleased. Great product, easy to install!

My fiancé had added this to his Amazon wish list for his birthday. HE LOVES IT! The button to turn the light on is conveniently located on the forward grip making it very easy to turn on while engaging a target or performing a sweep. The light is VERY bright, great to add to your home defense shotgun.

I recently installed this on a Mossberg 590A1 with 20" barrel - I was looking for a cheaper alternative, but the thicker barrel of the 590A1 eliminates a lot of barrel clamps for flashlights on this particular Mossberg model - as a result, I gave this a try.

PROS
1. Easy installation (despite videos etc. making it seem more difficult than it was) - they even include a tool to remove the OEM retaining ring.
2. Makes for a neat, snag-free installation.
3. Throws enough light for it's intended purpose (and then some).

CONS
1. The constant on switch operation could use a revision? The momentary ON operation is fine (as long as you hold the pressure switch, it's on), but in order to get constant on, you have to hit the switch twice, and release. This part of the operation is fine, but if you were to then grab the fore grip or rack another round, etc., you have to make a conscious effort to NOT hit the pressure switch again, or the light will turn off! When the adrenaline dump has taken place, I don't like the idea of having to make a conscious effort to NOT turn the light off accidentally!
2. Due to it's location, it will throw a shadow of the barrel in the light pattern. The shadow will probably be less pronounced with a shorter barreled gun (mine is 20" and has a bayonet lug hanging down), and it's less noticeable the farther the distance - when lighting up my back yard, the barrel shadow is much less noticeable than when shining across a room.

I'd probably give it 4 (or maybe 5) stars if you didn't have to worry about accidentally turning off the light when you have it selected to constant on.

An installation tip: They include a tool to unscrew the OEM fore grip retaining ring - before using it, you'd be wise to wrap a piece of electrical tape around the magazine tube at the fore grip retaining ring. I had planned to wrap something around the magazine tube, but used the tool just long enough to break the torque on the ring before doing so - in that short movement, I managed to knock off some of the tube's Parkerization - left a few circular scratches around part of the tube. Place a wrap (or two) of electrical tape around your magazine tube before doing anything and you should save yourself a rookie mistake!

NOTE: At the time of this writing, the item picture was correct - make sure you're getting the latest model (if that's what you want) as pictured. The new model:
1. Has the OFF / LOW / HIGH rotary switch located to the rear of the grip as pictured - earlier units had an ON / OFF switch in front of the left pressure switch.
2. The new unit is 250 lumens, and has a low / high / strobe function - I think the old units were 100 lumens, and had only ONE output selection.

This fit well on my Mossberg 500. It conveniently replaced my existing fore-end grip and the switch is easily accessible. One review indicated the shadow off of the barrel was an issue. While there is a slight shadow, I do have a short barrel for my defensive shotgun and did not find it limiting or distracting.
